I'm always interested in discoveries of new fish species.
We are aware of the devastation of deforestation and the impact on global warming and potential extinction due to deforestation, yet it continues.

With deforestation and dams, much of the Amazon is at risk unfortunately. The Belo Monte dam on the Xingu is a prime example.

The Europeans have much to answer to for "civilizing" parts of the world they didn't understand, whereas the natives did.....

They being saying for a few years now, that an area the size of Wales has been disappearing yearly ...so much for 'we must protect the rainforest'

So when they say "All the specimens have been photographed, cataloged and preserved..." Does that mean that all the fish they found have now been killed? Is that what "preserved" means? If so, then they have hardly helped the situation. To be honest, any fish that only lives in one small stream will always be endangered.
The continuing destruction is appalling. I'm not sure how it can be stopped.

Yep, stuffed, hanging on the wall next to Big Mouth Billy Bass. Seriously, unfortunately yes these specimens are probably tucked away pickled in laboratory jars.Ikcdab wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 9:05 am So when they say "All the specimens have been photographed, cataloged and preserved..."
