I'd like to give shrimp another go in my tank, I have good plant coverage for them to hide in so I'm hoping they won't get eaten straight away.
Looking on pro-shrimp they are about £3 each for special neocaridina or £1 each for the mongrels, assuming they will live and breed is it worth buying a specific colour or will they all revert to mongrel in a few months anyway?

I've had crystal red shrimp a few years now. Pure red line (always red and white). I've never had a 'mongrel' yet. I'd try and get a pure strain if I were you.

Didnt you make sure you kept the strongest coloured ones and move any faded/lighter colours to another tank?
Plus ypu had a good lineage to start with

Yes but all the good ones died off (in a tank move) and all the faded and weaker ones is all I had left. The colours have actually improved over the last few months. Getting a few decent colours again. Mainly stronger reds. From the ones the rainbows haven't scoffed. Been on a rescue mission tonight.

I prefer the wild type.



Think they look better than the bright coloured varieties.
