Hope everyone has had a great jubilee weekend!

How do you prep your veg for plecos? I've always just bunged in cucumber but I've been offering pepper and sweet potato. Do I need to soften it at all or is it ok to just go in (after washing of course).

I just rinse it and put it straight in. Some fish don’t like it soft. Let them decide as it softens in the tank. Some will wait, some will dive straight in while it’s still hard. It tastes different as it softens, releasing/making different compounds as it goes.

For cucumber I microwave it for 30 seconds this softens it up.

Most plecs prefer cucumber hard. :)

Literally wash it, screwcumber it and drop it in. Sarah generally finds some way of rolling it around and moving it whether its a cucumber or a broccoli stalk

Cheers guys, I'll continue as is then 😀 Pepper seems more popular than cucumber to the lemons.

Has anyone got ideas for a decent clip I can use to hold veggies in the tank without having to reach to the bottom to retrieve it?
