Thinking back to when you had some serious back issues . Can you plumb this tank in so water changes are done with a turn of a switch . I tend to use the filters to pump the water out via a tee joint and a tap . Makes water changes a dream on big tanks

Thanks Joe
I actually use a 22/16mm hose to empty the aquarium (syphoned to garden) and connect the same hose to mixer taps to refill the aquarium.
This has made water changes much easier.

I've often heard of plumbing direct to tank, but water treatment never seems to be mentioned. How do you dechlorinate, for example? Just add the treatment to the tank during/after refilling?

You treat the tank before putting the new water in.mattindevon wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 16:52 pmI've often heard of plumbing direct to tank, but water treatment never seems to be mentioned. How do you dechlorinate, for example? Just add the treatment to the tank during/after refilling?

I'm still seriously thinking of upgrading my 550L aquarium.
I am thinking maybe the Juwel Rio 450 LED (450L) (as in Wingnut55's tank log) but the light wood version.
Maybe an Oase HighLine optiwhite 600 oak (580L) (looks great but expensive).
Maybe an Eheim Incpiria Freshwater 530 Graphite (530L) (looks great but very expensive).
Then maybe a custom built aquarium.
Decisions, decisions, decisions ....

They are more expensive than I expected, AquaOak looks like a cheap option now.
I'm not looking at the moment but I'd love a bigger tank. The price doesn't scare me most, it's how to get a large 200kg glass box through my house and in place without breaking something.

My main issue is delivery. Many suppliers do a "pallet drop" which would cause me problems due to my disability, I can't lift.
6 years ago I arranged with my local LFS to have the cabinet assembled (off site) and delivered together with the aquarium and placed in position in my home.
I would need something similar this time, so the supplier is paramount, I will have another chat with my local LFS to see what they can supply (Oase stockist).
Once the new aquarium is in situ then setting it up is the part that I enjoy (no heavy lifting) and my creativeness comes in to play (no rush at this point).
Before any new aquarium is purchased and delivered the existing aquarium must be moved on (sold) to make space.
The existing fish must also be moved on (not an issue) and new stock sourced (again not an issue), thanks to my favourite LFS.
This time I want to use RO water to removed any impurities (especially phosphates) despite having fairly soft water (4.6dGH).
So my time scale would be:-
1. Re-homing existing fish stock.
2. Moving on the existing aquarium & stand.
3. Setting up a RO unit and having clean water ready.
4. Sourcing the supply of new aquarium where supplier will assist with delivery.
5. Setting up the new aquarium.
6. Adding new fish stock.
I am very good at planning, organising and having everything ready for the big day.
There may be a few weeks where I don't have an aquarium which would be a good opportunity to re-decorate the lounge (I'm always thinking ahead).
All these ideas are only in my head at the moment.

I showed Gill the 3 pictures above to see which one she preferred the look of.
She chose .......
The Eheim Incpiria Freshwater 530 Graphite (530L).
I can not really justify the expense of the Eheim at £2800.00 although it does look great and I do love Eheim products.
