That looks great, you've made a lot of progress already, my pond is also small and shallow but it's full of newts, tadpoles and other bug like things, blanket weed is a bit of a pain I pull some out several times over the summer to keep it under control, you can also get treatments I just haven't tried any yet, a good amount of surface cover is supposed to help, if you want critters they may not like your fountain as I believe they prefer still water, though I have not tried one in mine to say for sure, in any case make sure the pump is covered so they can't get sucked in, creeping jenny is a nice plant as it should grow across the water, I like water spearmint for the smell of the leaves, also for cheap surface cover you can throw in a bag of supermarket watercress some will die off but a lot will grow and soon looks lovely

Garden and pond have been progressing.

Last batch of pond plants in (although I’ve got a big shelf basket coming to repot the flag irises into because they keep blowing over a bit in the wind; can certainly see which direction the prevailing wind is now 🤣)

And today’s general garden scaping involved moving four breeze blocks from their random location, digging the ground level and then placing two of the blocks into place to make another step. Still a wee bit to level out under the mesh/maybe add another small slab step just to help keep the gravel in place (once I add the gravel obviously!) With a comparison photo of 4 months ago.

@VikingMummy2015 I have been away for a week so only just seen this, looks great you must be super happy with it, mine will need a refill soon if it doesn't rain it's been so hot, don't worry about showing the blanket weed doubt it will look any worse than mine!

Pictures from today of pond and surrounding area. Not bad given it was all grass/weeds in March! My step-mum will shudder over the mint spreading but I love the smell of it and am happy for it to cover as much of that bare ground as it wants!
