Gourami are soft water fish and don't like hard water long-term.
Dwarf gourami are bred in a cocktail of meds and are therefore prone to their type of iridovirus if kept in hard water.
I'm also not sure they aren't both males which is a no-no in a tank as they will fight.
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! :D

Also as a note you shouldn’t need any buffers etc for hard water as all the minerals etc are already in the water, so it wouldn’t need buffering. Also did you make this adjustment gradually? As sudden quick adjustments can cause issues

It is a sad day when we loose beautiful fish, I have two powder blue dwarf gourami lucky for me I have soft water and both fish a happy and healthy.
