Reading @BAINBRIDGE Tiger Barb post, curiosity is getting the better of me. I believe it was yours truly that put some of you on to Herons fish foods.
I know that @plankton and @fr499y use it as well as me, so who else uses Herons foods here?

I recently bought the algae crisps after hearing about herons on here. Had a look at whole range and seem really inexpensive. Will be trying their pellets when I run out of the ones I currently use.

With food you get what you pay for. Cheap means not great quality compared to dearer foods.Bluetaurus wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 16:18 pm Been using them on and off quite some time now. Good quality.

I’ve got a whole bunch of foods from there and the fish seem happy and healthy, suppose it’s all about keeping it varied and not overdoing it.
Recently tried some Origin foods with my fish and they seemed to go down well, they’re a bit more pricey though. Then I’ve also used really expensive ones like New Life Spectrum which the fish haven’t cared for, sadly.
Good thing about Herons is you can order small sample sizes before committing to buying it in bigger batches.

Just had a look through their range, might try the pleco wafers as an alternative to Hikari sinking wafers that I feed for my catfish/ Cory's, it lists protein as 47% which seems quite good.
I will soon run out of the spirulina wafers I feed now and then for the BN pleco, does anyone know if it's better to feed them Spirulina or just plain Algae wafers?

That’s unnecessarily high even for carnivores. Excess protein means more solid waste, and more ammonia, and an increased risk of bloat due to undigested protein in the intestines.
For herbivores it’s downright dangerous.

What level would you suggest for Cory and Tetra type fish which I suppose would eat mostly small insects in the wild, my Hikari wafers are at 36% I think? Also is it better to give the BN Spirulina or Algae flakes, what is the difference?
