Hi everyone.

I bought some pleco tube caves, but in the tank they're quite bright. I'd like to use them as part of my rebuild scape, but they're too bright to look like they're natural (as natural as ceramic tubes are). What paints is safe, if any?

Cheers,
Ben.

Why not cover them in moss and anubias/java ferns?

The plan is to have them with rocks around them to hide them a bit. The rocks I have are a bit darker than this so they will stick out like a sore thumb .

The only thing I'd be concerned about is a plec eating the paint layer.

What about silicone over the tube and rolling it in sand?

The will be mostly hidden in rocks, so not really an option. I guess in time algae growth will age them a little!

I've had plecos eat a paint layer from a bought ornament when I started out years ago!

I'll use the two that I've bought anyway, I was just hoping there'd be a way to improve them. The ones in the link look to have the same colour as I have already looking at the in water pic. As only the entrance will be visible, I guess algae will age them over time and make them look a bit more natural.

Thanks guys.
